Chelsea vs Arsenal: Why Gunners will lose to Maurizio Sarri’s Blues – Paul Merson

CHELSEA have too much for Arsenal and will hand Unai Emery’s men back-to-back Premier League defeats.

That is the view of former Arsenal player Paul Merson.

Arsenal lost their opening league game of the season 2-0 to Manchester City at the Emirates last weekend.

While Chelsea got their campaign off to an ideal start as they beat Huddersfield 3-0.

Arsenal will start the match with a six-game unbeaten run over their London rivals.

But Merson feels that streak will come to an end today.

Merson told Sky Sports: “Chelsea had a great result and Arsenal’s was disappointing.

“I say disappointing but I don’t know what everybody was expecting?

“That a new manager was going to come in and they’d wipe the floor with Man City?

“I’ll go with Chelsea, 2-1, I think they’ll just have too much for Arsenal.”

Speaking in his press conference today, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri said he expects Arsenal to have a good season despite their 2-0 defeat to Manchester City on the opening weekend.

He said: “It’s difficult for everybody against Manchester City! Emery is a very good coach.

“He won the Europa League three times, he won in France with PSG, and I think Arsenal this season will be competitive.

“They will be able to fight for a place in the Champions League.”

While Arsenal manager Unai Emery said in his media briefing summer signing Lucas Torreira is ready to start against Chelsea.

“Yes, he is okay every day and is training good,” said Emery.

“He is now with the team and knowing and learning English conversation with us and can understand all the things we want to do tactically on the pitch.

“He is okay, the first match against City he played 15 to 20 minutes and I think this is good, I want to continue with him improving and to be okay to play.”
