Chelsea wants 28-years-old Brazilian star to replace Conor Gallagher

Conor Gallagher, a midfield player who has been strongly linked to leaving Stamford Bridge this summer, may have a successor, according to a wild rumor from one source.

Regarding Gallagher’s Chelsea future, not much has changed recently; most of the comments made have been that it would be resolved after the Euros. Naturally, the Euros are gone, so we’ll soon know out what the England and Chelsea player’s future holds.

Chelsea is reportedly aiming to replace him if he is sold. That in and of itself is strange enough, but the name Chelsea is allegedly hoping to replace him with is even stranger!

According to Globo in Brazil, Chelsea have identified Andreas Pereira as their ideal replacement for Conor Gallagher and would be willing to pay £30-35m. They have confirmed their interest to his agent Kia Joorabchian and want to know the conditions.

They also claim that new head coach Enzo Maresca has approved the move!

I mean, it might turn out to be true of course – stranger things have happened. But personally, I see this as pure agent talk and agent generated news as he looks to get a move for his client.

To start with, why would Chelsea even need to replace Gallagher having just signed Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall? They are also stacked in that area of the pitch. Unless they have plans to sell a player like Carney Chukwuemeka? Even still, they would be stacked.

And Pereira? Is he really going to add anything? Is he even good enough? The former Manchester United player is certainly not a name that we expected to be linked with Chelsea anytime soon, and also, his age profile at 28 really doesn’t match Chelsea’s recent recruitment strategy.
