Chelsea didn’t make any signings in January, prompting quite a lot of grumbling from fans who were expecting us to make a splash after a summer out of the market.
The Blues really didn’t make the most of January, but in typical, almost deliberately trollish style, they’ve concluded one the moment the window has shut.
Young Edwin Andersson is only 16 but already attracting the attentions of Euorpe’s top clubs. It was announced yesterday that Chelsea had won the race to sign him, and Football.London today had some quotes from the youngster on why he chose Frank Lampard’s team:
“It is a dream come true,” said the IFK Gotheburg wonderkid.
“Chelsea was the club that suited me the best and it is a club with incredibly good conditions,” he went on.
He is clearly excited to be coming, and while a kid like him feels a long way from the first team, let’s not forget that Billy Gilmour was making first team bench appearances within two years of arriving as an equally fresh faced 16 year old.
With Frank Lampard at the helm, young Edwin may be in Blue sooner than expected.
