Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante has been ruled out of their clash with Sheffield United this weekend, as confirmed by Frank Lampard on Friday.
The Frenchman has been struggling with an injury in recent weeks.
The injury forced Kante to miss the win over Norwich last weekend and the player will also be unable to join up with the France national team in September.
As announced on Friday, the midfielder has not been included in Didier Deschamps’ squad to face Albania on Saturday the 7th of September, and then Andorra on Tuesday the 10th.
Now, Frank Lampard has given an update on Kante’s injury.
No time frame for his return
Speaking ahead of the clash with Sheffield United, Lampard claimed that Kante’s France exclusion is a continuation of his recent ankle problem.
Lampard didn’t provide an update on when Kante could return, either.
‘N’Golo Kante is not fit, so the continuation of his ankle problem and he won’t be travelling with the France squad either,’ Lampard explained, as quoted by the Mail.
‘I had a conversation with Didier Deschamps and we both agreed it’s the best thing for him. Let’s try and get him fit over the break.
‘It’s a setback, of course. My focus is then to make sure he’s okay. He’s had four years of constant football at an incredibly high energy and output level. We have to get that right.’
