CONFIRMED: Chelsea Flop, officially Joins Pep Guardiola at Manchester City

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli has completed a move to Premier League rivals Manchester City.

Romano confirmed the deal on X, stating: “Marcus Bettinelli leaves Chelsea and joins Manchester City as new third goalkeeper. Green light also from the player who will travel to the FIFA Club World Cup.”

The 33-year-old had just one year remaining on his Chelsea contract, and City have paid a nominal fee to secure his services. He is expected to provide experienced cover as the third-choice goalkeeper at the Etihad Stadium.

Bettinelli made only one appearance for Chelsea across four seasons — a 5-1 FA Cup victory against Chesterfield in 2022 — but was a respected presence in the dressing room. Prior to joining Chelsea, he made 120 appearances for Fulham and was briefly called up to the England squad in September 2018, although he didn’t make a senior appearance.

The veteran shot-stopper also had loan spells at Accrington Stanley and Middlesbrough earlier in his career. At Chelsea, he was known for his professionalism and leadership behind the scenes, playing a key role in supporting the first-team goalkeepers.
