The final day has began as we enter January 2020’s transfer deadline day.
As expected, all the Chelsea related talk is about a possible new striker arriving, and the departure of Olivier Giroud.
The two situations appear to go hand in hand, with claims from Sky Italia (cited by Get French Football News) suggesting that Giroud might refuse to train with Chelsea today unless his move away from the club is sanctioned.
Naturally, as he is concerned about a lack of game time due to hardly playing at all under Frank Lampard, he believes he needs to leave in order to save his France Euro 2020 chances, and that is fully understandable.
The World Cup winner has never once moaned about the situation despite not featuring, and he has remained professional throughout.
But at the age of 33, it will be his last chance to feature in a major international tournament, and if he stays at Chelsea, he will miss that chance.
I think Chelsea should just grant his wish and let him go.
