Chelsea are likely to miss out on PSG star Adrien Rabiot after Matt Spiro of beIN Sports reported that Frenchman has agreed on terms with Barcelona.
The 23-year-old had been widely reported as unsatisfied with his situation at Ligue 1 giants and was angling for a move away from the Parc des Princes.
Several teams from across Europe were believed to be keen on securing the services of French international, including Chelsea.
However, it seems as though the La Liga giants have got the better of Chelsea this time and Rabiot seems to be on his way to Nou Camp.
The West Londoners had been on the hunt for a new playmaker, after a summer that largely revolved around new head-coach.
Maurizio Sarri trying to make his mark on the squad by bringing Real Madrid star Mateo Kovacic and Napoli’s Jorginho in the summer, the first one only at Stamford Bridge on a permanent deal, however.
Rabiot is an effective two-way player, and Sarri will no doubt be happy to have a quality midfielder like him in the squad.
