According to The Telegraph, The Blues are keen to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.
The report, written by the reliable journalists Matt Law and Jason Burt, claims that Chelsea have made an enquiry to sign the 32-year old striker this month.
However, this comes after Frank Lampard’s comments yesterday praising the Uruguay international and certainly not ruling out a move when he had the chance to do so.
Chelsea are close to win the race for Cavani, ahead of Atletico Madrid, Tottenham, and Manchester United.
PSG are understood to want a fee of at least £10 million to allow Cavani to leave this month. He will also have high wage demands.
But in terms of Lampard talking about signing short term options this month, Cavani along with his quality and experience, certainly fits that profile.
Chelsea need extra firepower up top after solely relying on Tammy Abraham’s first season in the first team squad.
