Deal ON: Chelsea star agree personal terms with Arsenal ahead of potential transfer
According to latest reports, Arsenal have taken a significant step towards signing Chelsea winger Noni Madueke after agreeing personal terms with the 23-year-old, according to The Athletic.
Although no formal offer has been made to Chelsea yet, Madueke is believed to have given the green light to a potential move across London, with Arsenal seriously considering making an approach for the England international.
Arsenal and Chelsea maintain a good working relationship and have already conducted business this summer, with goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga joining Mikel Arteta’s side after they activated his £5million ($6.8m) release clause.
Madueke is being targeted to add depth and versatility to Arsenal’s attack, particularly on the right wing. The winger, however, is also capable of operating effectively on the left, making him an attractive option for Arteta as he reshapes his squad ahead of the new season.
The Athletic had earlier reported on July 1 that Madueke was on a shortlist of potential attacking additions for Arsenal, alongside Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze and Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers.
Despite a mixed campaign at Stamford Bridge, Madueke finished the season with 11 goals and five assists in 45 appearances, including four outings at the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
He missed a spell due to a hamstring injury and was twice left out of the matchday squad by Enzo Maresca — first for the 3-0 win over Aston Villa in December, reportedly due to poor training performances, and later for the loss to Fulham, which Maresca described as a “technical decision”.
Madueke joined Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023 and has made 91 appearances for the Blues. He remains under contract until 2030, meaning Chelsea will likely demand a substantial fee if Arsenal choose to follow through with a formal bid.
Whether or not a deal materialises now depends on how seriously Arsenal pursue the winger in the coming days.
