Baba Rahman hopes to be playing his football at Stamford Bridge next year.
One of the last Chelsea players signed by Jose Mourinho in his time at the club, Baba was loaned out to Schalke at the start of Antonio Conte’s spell.
With his loan extended in Gelsenkirchen until the end of the 2018/19 season, Baba will return to London having had serious exposure to the Bundesliga.
The Ghanaian has been a semi-regular at left-back for Schalke, making 44 appearances in his first two seasons in Germany.
However, that hasn’t stopped the defender from thinking about a return to Chelsea.
Despite this, in an interview with German outlet Spox (translated by Sport Witness), Baba conceded anything felt possible:
You can never say where football will guide you to. Maybe I stay for the next 10 years at Schalke but I also can imagine playing for Chelsea again. But at the moment I don’t think about these things, I’m really happy at Schalke,
The 24-year-old went on to reveal his thoughts surrounding Chelsea’s model of player development:
As one of the best clubs in the world, Chelsea gives many players the chance to make their dreams come true and become better footballers. The club gives talented players a chance to prove themselves. At Schalke, I am now regularly in front of 60,000 spectators on the pitch, which makes me incredibly good in my development,
That’s right. The group consists of loanees and employees of the association, who take care of the boys who are currently away. There, the coaches give regular feedback and post goals or good scenes from individual players. Often we also send funny videos or memes there.
