It’s a strategy that proved so successful for us in terms of developing youngsters and selling them on for profit. He appears keen to replicate that success with Les Monegasques.
Chelsea have also made the mistake to allow starlets like Panzo depart and live to rue their mistakes. We hope that the same doesn’t happen here.
Panzo became a world champion with England at U17 level last year. He also lifted the UEFA Youth League twice during his time with Chelsea.
His route to the AS Monaco first-team is far less treacherous than it would be at Chelsea, with the Ligue 1 giants often trusting in their younger players.
We wish him the best, though half hope that we haven’t made another error of judgement here.
