Dad opens up and reveals how Chelsea secured transfer deal and beat of Slow Man United
Chelsea beat Manchester United to Nigerian talent Bryan Fiabema because they were ‘faster’, it has been revealed.
Lampard has overseen a dramatic change in youth policy since he took charge last summer, with a host of Chelsea’s academy stars graduating to become regulars in the senior squad
The likes of Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Reece James and Fikayo Tomori are just a few of the young guns in Lampard’s side this season, and with so many talented players in the youth set-up, many talents around Europe have been keeping a very close eye believing that they could get a chance to shine under Lampard.
The 17-year-old Fiabema was appearing for Tromso in Norway when clubs picked up on his talents, with constant reports in the media suggesting that United were the biggest challenge for Chelsea in the chase to sign the talented star.
Now dad Mina has revealed how the Blues were able to secure his services in a transfer at the start of 2020, claiming that they managed to secure a deal by being that bit faster, He told All Nigeria Soccer: “Chelsea for him was a dream come true, Manchester United were also looking at him.
“Chelsea were faster than Manchester United. “Youth players are hardly signed during the winter transfer window, so we were not expecting him to join Chelsea but the invitation came in December and he was signed in January.”
The lad is a brilliant talent and it is easy to see why he was such an in-demand player, but has he made the right choice and joined the right club? will he get the first-team chances that he would like over the next few seasons?
