Gonzalo Higuain is in London, that’s the claim of the Metro.
The 31-year-old Argentine is in London to put pen to paper on a loan deal with Chelsea. The deal which has been dragging on since the start of the January transfer window will be completed before the end of today.
This breakthrough would have come as a massive boost for Maurizio Sarri, who looked like he was going to recall Michy Batshuayi or Tammy Abraham from his loan spell a month ago.
Chelsea have had a relatively impressive campaign in the Premier League but the lack of prolific striker has restricted them to fighting tooth and nail for a position in the top four of the League.
With Higuain leading a possible front three including Willian and Eden Hazard, the Blues will have more bite upfront and score more goals than they have done.
Higuain was a thorn in the flesh of defenders during his time at Napoli. Under the auspices of Maurizio Sarri, he enjoyed the best form of his life, when he scored 36 League goals in 35 games.
The report by the Metro claim, he will join Chelsea on a loan deal until the end of the season but the Blues will have the option of making the deal permanent.
