“Don’t misuse him, He’s not effective in that area” – Frank Lampard slams Enzo Maresca decision on Chelsea star in 1-1 draw against Manchester United

When Enzo Maresca’s team played Manchester United on Sunday, they came away from Old Trafford with a point.

The blues overcame a deficit to draw 1-1 with Manchester United in the Premier League, moving them up to fourth place in the standings.

Following Malo Gusto’s performance against Old Trafford this past weekend, Chelsea icon Frank Lampard shared his thoughts on the player.

After beginning against Manchester United and demonstrating his usual propensity to move into highly high attacking areas, the 21-year-old right-back was replaced at halftime.

“Moving the full-backs especially higher up the field is a significant aspect of the game. Gusto has been performing admirably. Although he was ineffective in the last minute, he had some decent positions in the first half”.

Lampard remarked on Sky Sports Premier League, “I think he should go back to his most preferred position because he’s good at that instead of the new position Enzo Maresca gives him.”

Furthermore, Maresca already discussed Gusto’s significance in Chelsea’s system. However, one could argue that with James on the right and Cucurella on the left, the balance appears superior.

There is fierce rivalry for spots at full-back, so it will be intriguing to watch what the Blues head coach does going forward.

James is clearly not being used to fly forward and support the attack just yet, which may indicate that he is healthy as he heals from another injury. As a result, the defenders higher up the field are more likely to be Gusto or Cucurella.
