Eden Hazard: We Must Beat Liverpool Again On Saturday

Chelsea ended Liverpool’s perfect start to the season after defeating the Reds 2-1 at Anfield in the Carabao Cup third round clash.

Both sides rested players for the game with star players like Eden Hazard and Mohamed Salah on the bench, but both had to enter the pitch in the second half after the going went tough.

Daniel Sturridge opened the scoring with a delightful overhead kick after Liverpool had missed a couple of chances.

While the game seemed to be heading in Liverpool’s direction, Emerson cancelled out Sturridge’s effort with ten minutes remaining of normal time as he was aware to tap in home from a Ross Barkley header.

The match looked like it was heading for a penalty shootout before Hazard popped up with a solo wonder goal. Hazard jinked round several Liverpool defenders and drilled the ball past a hapless Simon Mignolet to send Chelsea into the fourth round of the competition.

The two sides will again square up on Saturday, this time in the Premier League, and Hazard who was the match winner at Anfield has urged the team to do it this time at Stamford Bridge.

“This result will give us more confidence because we drew with West Ham four days ago,” he told Sky Sports.

“The game on Saturday [with Liverpool] is more important. ‘We have got to try and beat Liverpool on Saturday.”
