Chelsea already have a plan for one of their new signings after committing big money.
Chelsea’s 2025 signing Estevao Willian is already said to have been told where he will play when he eventually joins the club.
The Blues have already agreed a deal with Palmeiras, with £29million due upfront and a further £23million potentially due in add-ons, making the total value of the deal worth £52million.
The 17-year-old winger will not be allowed to join Chelsea until he turns 18, as per FIFA rules, and with his birthday in April, he will not arrive until next summer. But when he does, the exciting young winger already knows what position he will take up, and it won’t be on the wing.
According to his agent, Andre Cury, Estevao will play as a number 10 for the Blues. “He can adapt to any style of play,” Cury told UOL in Brazil.
“Chelsea is a club that sees Estevao playing as a number ten, for us that is important. He can develop even more playing in the middle.” The 17-year-old already has 27 first team appearances for Palmeiras, scoring eight times from out wide. He also has a senior Brazil cap and five caps for the under-17s. Brazil superstar Neymar has previously said of Chelsea’s new signing:
“He is a great talent that is emerging in Brazilian football today. I think he’s going to be a genius.”
It’s unclear whether Estevao Willian will become a first team player instantly next summer, but his quality seems to indicate that that will be the case. Nosso Palestra have reported that the young Brazilian will be brought over to West London to check out the club’s facilities and meet people before he arrives next summer in a bid to ease his transition. After all, it will be no easy task for a 17-year-old to move from his home country of Brazil to London at such a young age.
