EXPOSED: Secret fights between Todd Bohely and Pochettino that leads to sacking finally revealed
After just one season at Stamford Bridge, Mauricio Pochettino has been fired from his position as Chelsea’s manager.
On Tuesday night, Chelsea declared that they and Pochettino had split up amicably.
Many people were surprised by the decision, as Mauricio Pochettino was starting to see improvement from the team and many were anticipating a stronger season.
Pochettino had led Chelsea to five straight victories, and the team was starting to appear unbeatable.
But how did the Chelsea board and owners come to this decision?
The road to Pochettino’s departure began last Friday as Pochettino had dinner with Blues owner Todd Boehly.
Chelsea then beat Bournemouth 2-1 on Sunday to secure a sixth-place finish.
Pochettino had claimed all was well after the dinner, even as rumours of his sacking continued to swirl.
The following day after beating Bournemouth, Pochettino was called to the Cobham training ground for crunch talks, according to The Telegraph.
Sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart were there – while they also had a chat with co-owner Behdad Eghbali.
By the end of the meeting, a decision was said to have been made mutually on Pochettino’s future, as Pochettino handed in his notice the following morning.
What was the basis of it all? The reason for Pochettino’s departure was put down to issues “relating to the dynamics of working within a club structure”.
