Fabrizio Romano ‘confirms’ one manager is ‘super keen’ on Chelsea job

Fabrizio Romano has provided the most recent information regarding a manager’s candidacy to lead Chelsea as manager.

The Blues parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino on Tuesday and are now searching for a new head coach. After less than a year in charge, the Argentine has left the team.

Numerous names have previously been connected to Chelsea, and Romano has now provided an update on one of their targets’ opinions regarding Pochettino’s replacement.

Updates on Enzo Maresca’s connections to Chelsea are provided by Fabrizio Romano.

Following Mauricio Pochettino’s departure from Chelsea, Enzo Maresca became one of the front-runners for the position.

The Blues need to get their next appointment right. Todd Boehly and co have got all of their managerial decisions wrong since taking over the club.

Maresca is by no means the big-name manager Chelsea fans were hoping to see take charge. However, he is a really talented young boss.

The 44-year-old spent a year as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City, where the Spaniard hailed him for his ‘incredible‘ contribution in their treble-winning season.

Maresca then took charge of relegated Leicester City in the Championship and in his first season there, he won the title and has led them back to the Premier League.

That seems to have really impressed the decision-makers at Chelsea, which is why he is on their list of options to replace Pochettino.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has delivered an update on Maresca. The journalist has confirmed that the Italian is ‘super keen’ to become the next Chelsea manager.

He wrote in his Daily Briefing: “I’m receiving many questions about Enzo Maresca guys, and I can confirm that Maresca is super open and super keen on joining Chelsea. So it’s a concrete possibility.”

The journalist then added: “Maresca said no to Sevilla, he wants to work in the Premier League, at Leicester or any other club, he wants to stay in England and he has a release clause of around €10m.”

Romano confirms two managers don’t want the Chelsea job
Finding managers in today’s market is not easy – just ask Bayern Munich, who have found it incredibly hard to find a successor for Thomas Tuchel.

Chelsea are on the hunt to find a new boss, and along with Maresca, a few more exciting names are on their wish list.

One of them is VFB Stuttgart boss Sebastian Hoeness, who led his side to a second-place finish in the Bundesliga ahead of Bayern Munich.

Another one is Girona’s Michel. The Spanish side finished third in La Liga and his stock shot up as a result.

However, Romano has confirmed that those two managers want to stay at their current clubs, as things stand.

“Hoeness doesn’t want to leave Stuttgart, Michel is also very happy at Girona.”
