Fans to welcome €120m player to the Bridge after Barcelona decided to sell Chelsea target and cut €730m debt
Chelsea have been alerted to the massive news that Barcelona are looking to sell Antoine Griezmann in the summer transfer window.
Griezmann joined Barca from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2019, having established himself as one of the world’s best forwards while winning the World Cup with France.
After firing at least 20 goals in each of the last six seasons, Griezmann scored just 15 times in 48 games in his first season for Barca, a disappointing haul given the €120m (£107m/$134m) fee required to bring him to the club, and he has not faired any better this season.
He has largely been played out of position since joining Barca, and because of that fact, he has not looked like the player that dominated over at Madrid for so many years and became one of the very best players in world football.
WHAT IS THE LATEST?
According to El Confidencial, the club’s short-term debt stands at €730m and they need to lighten their salary burden before entering the market.
Four names have been identified for potential sales in the upcoming window, with Griezmann, Philippe Coutinho, Samuel Umtiti and Francisco Trincao believed to be on the chopping block.
WOULD HE BE WELCOME AT CHELSEA?
One of the best attacking players in world football and a man that has been linked with the Premier League alot over the past few seasons, yes he would be welcome at the London giants.
They may not need another midfielder in the squad, but how could they turn down the opportunity to sign one of the best players in world football? Especially at a bargain price.
It is a shame that Griezmann has not excelled at Barca, but we would love him here in the Premier League.
