Ahead of Aston Villa’s visit to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has revealed Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley is impressing him in training.
However, Lampard admitted Barkley will be unavailable for selection for the game against Aston Villa because he is currently sick.
Barkley has not been seen in a Chelsea shirt since October after picking up an injury in the victory over Newcastle United.
Lampard said: “Ross Barkley has been sick, he was ill Sunday night. He is in this morning but not recovered enough to be available today.
“He has been training well.
That has never been a huge issue and now he has to keep that level and push that level and compete for a place.
That is up to Ross now.” He said.
