“Finished player “We are all confused” “he is on drugs” – Chelsea fans slams Graham Potter decision for starting poor Chelsea star against Salzburg
The four-man backline that Graham Potter used instead of the three-man backline that Thomas Tuchel had the club use may or may not have surprised Chelsea supporters. They are, however, undoubtedly quite upset with the English manager’s choice to start Thiago Silva at center back with Cesar Azpilicueta.
Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana were two defensive reinforcements that Chelsea made during the summer window under the direction of former manager Tuchel. However, Potter has made the decision not to start either center-half against RB Salzburg in the Champions League.
The Stamford Bridge supporters are furious and have criticized the manager on Twitter as a result of the decision. Here are a few tweets from the disgruntled support:
Graham Potter will be hoping that his selection of Cesar Azpilicueta was a wise one and that the club gets back to winning. Azpilicueta, who is currently 33, and Thiago Silva, who will soon turn 38, are both center backs who are well into their 30s.
