The performance of Reece James this afternoon drew commendation from plenty of Chelsea fans on Twitter.

The 20-year-old was handed his eighth Premier League start of the season in today’s 2-2 draw at Leicester and he showcased his attacking abilities from the right-back position at the King Power Stadium.

The youngster provided three crosses against the Foxes and while the statistics from WhoScored show that none of those were classified at accurate, that owed to the inability of his team-mates to seize upon the inviting deliveries that he provided, according to Oliver Harbord of Football London. However, as noted by WhoScored, James recorded three accurate long balls out of the five that he attempted and played one key pass, as well as contributing defensively by winning one tackle and making one interception.

Although the right-back played an unwitting part in Leicester’s equaliser when Ashley Barnes’ shot touched off him on its way into the net, Joshua Jones of The Sun was very impressed with the Chelsea youngster, saying that he “was Chelsea’s biggest threat going forward” and added: “Judging by the quality of some of his deliveries today, James’ crossing is not a million miles away from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s.” Blues fans on Twitter were highly impressed with James’ performance in the draw at Leicester this afternoon.

@danlevene also said: “Reece James doesn’t cross the ball. He sends it by first class courier service *direct* to the intended recipient’s door”.

@ConnCFC said: “Reece James. No full back in Europe is more consistent than him when it’s comes to quality of cross”.
