Five players Chelsea could sign before August 31 deadline
With 11 acquisitions made thus far this season, Chelsea has been the most active Premier League team in the transfer market.
Despite the number of acquisitions the Blues have made thus far, they are still connected to a lot of players, and they may add a few more before the deadline.
To assist Chelsea overtake teams like Manchester City and Arsenal at the top of the Premier League standings, Todd Boehly has been frivolously spending money.
The Blues have also seen several departures with Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell told to leave, Conor Gallagher’s move to Atletico Madrid and Lukaku’s likely move to Napoli.
Below are the five players that Chelsea could still sign before the deadline runs out.
Jadon Sancho: Reports have circulated that Chelsea could land Jadon Sancho in a swap deal with Raheem Sterling who has been told to seek a new club this summer.
The United winger is also getting monitored by Juventus and PSG which seem the more likely destinations for Sancho, but a move to Chelsea could still happen.
Sancho has fallen out of favour with Erik Ten Hag at United and didn’t feature in either squad during their opening two games.
Victor Osimhen: Napoli striker Victor Osimhen looks likely to either move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli or Chelsea who are in talks to sign the Nigerian.
The Blues have all but lost Lukaku, so they could use the money to invest into a deal for Osimhen who has been linked to Arsenal and PSG too this summer.
Chelsea are in talks with Osimhen over a move but there is no indication yet as to which club the Napoli striker will move to.
Ivan Toney: Brentford striker Ivan Toney has been subject to much transfer talk this summer. He has been linked to Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli.
Toney is yet to feature for Brentford this season due to the ongoing speculation over his impending departure, however, with just three days left in the transfer window, it is still unclear where he will go.
The most likely destinations are Chelsea and Al-Ahli, but neither are yet to match Brentford’s £50m price tag.
Andreas Pereira: Chelsea have also been linked with Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira as a replacement for the departed Conor Gallagher.
The 28-year-old former United player has recently generated interest from Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest according to the Daily Mail.
There is also a strong possibility that the £25m-rated midfielder will remain at Fulham – his contract doesn’t expire until June 2026.
Murillo: The Blues are keen on Nottingham Forest centre-back Murillo who has been valued at £60m by the East Midlands club.
He would help Enzo Maresca with depth in central defence, filling the void that was left by Thiago Silva who now plays for Fluminense in Brazil.
Any news over talks of a deal has gone quiet, but if Maresca is keen on Murillo, the 22-year-old could still make a move to the capital before the end of the window.
