“Forget Cole Palmer” “This is the player that will take the team to the next level” – Noni Madueke names one Chelsea player who will turn Chelsea around ahead of next season
In the past two transfer windows, Chelsea has spent about £1 billion, but not every acquisition has proven to be successful.
Romeo Lavia, a midfielder for Chelsea, will dominate the Premier League, according to striker Noni Madueke, once he returns to full fitness the following season. The 20-year-old, who cost £58 million to sign with Chelsea, has just played 20 minutes of football for the club.
When he made his debut against Crystal Palace, he was knocked out in that match, but all signs point to a comeback the following season. Madueke, who admits it took him some time to settle in at the team, believes the Belgian will lead them to the next level when he’s ready.
He told ESPN in an exclusive interview: “I don’t want to say I feel like anyone’s going to be better than anyone else. However, I’m really excited to watch Romeo play next season. He’s got bags of ability and it’s been unfortunate for him this season being out for so long.
“But I remember when he played Southampton, he was outstanding. So really excited to see him. He’s a top player and he just needs time. He’s been injured for a whole season. He’s still very young, so it’s not really about putting a lot of pressure on him, just letting him grow and develop at his pace, but he’s got elite talent and a good mindset as well.”
Chelsea invested heavily in the next generation including Madueke who was signed for £30million from PSV to form a brand new team of young players for manager Mauricio Pochettino to mould into a group of winners.
In the last few games they have shown that they are heading in the right direction after winning for consecutive for the first time in two years.
