Eden Hazard has been named the player of the Europa League in 2018/19.
The Belgian only started four games in the tournament, with four other substitute appearances.
He only managed two goals in the tournament, but those two goals were crucial – coming in the final in Baku against Arsenal as he produced a stunning display to win the trophy for the Blues.
The final in Baku proved to be Hazard’s last appearance in a Blues shirt as he made a big-money move to Real Madrid – his dream move – after months of speculation and transfer negotiations.
Whether he stayed at Chelsea or moved on to Madrid, Hazard was not going to play in the Europa League this season,. but he has received the award for player of the tournament, following his final heroics.
Hazard was not in Monaco for the draw, but was given the award prior to the big ceremony and sent a message to the fans and everyone at the Europa League draw.
He said: “Hello everyone, I’ve just been given the trophy, so thank you to everyone who voted for me and I’d like to wish good luck to all the players playing in the Europa League this year.”
