Former Real Madrid manager wants to replace Sarri at Chelsea.
Despite securing the Champions league berth and a Europa league final, Maurizio Sarri’s job at Chelsea is at a risk, as the West-London club is considering to sack the Italian manager.
Additionally, several reports also suggests that Sarri is also ready to depart from England and land a job in Serie A, where he is still a respected figure.
Thus, according to a report by The Times , ex-Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetgui wishes to replace Maurizio Sarri from Chelsea, as the Spaniard is out of job since Real Madrid sacking and wants a return to dugout.
However, it will be not easy for Lopetegui to gain the managerial role at Chelsea, considering his poor record with previous teams, especially with Real Madrid, where he was sacked just after 14 games in charge.
Hence, since the Blues want to have a successful season amid transfer ban, the administration would be skeptical to hire the Spanish manager.
On the other hand, Chelsea are already targeting to bring Derby manager Frank Lampard back in Stamford Bridge, and would be delighted to have him back on-board.
Since the transfer ban would limit the resources of Chelsea, thus, the club administration feels that Lampard would be the ideal choice for Chelsea as he can risk giving chances to the academy players just like he did it in Derby.
It seems that Lopetgeui’s chances of getting the Chelsea job are slim and the club would be interested in looking at better prospects.
However, if things does not go in favour for Chelsea, while looking for a suitable manager, Lopetegui will remain a decent alternative for the Blues.
