Chelsea boss Frank Lampard made the bold move of dropping goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga for the 2-2 draw at Leicester City on Saturday.
The Spaniard has been guilty of series of errors this season which have cost Chelsea, with his most recent error allowing Newcastle to score a 94th minute winner at St James’ Park.
Explaining why he dropped Arrizabalaga for the game against Leicester City, Lampard said: “It’s a decision that I make and I think with goalkeepers it’s a decision you don’t take lightly because of what it means.”
“They are very close and they work hard together each day but it’s one that I felt to make for this game,” Lampard added.
“I trust in Willy he trains brilliantly, he’s a great professional. I trust them both but it’s the decision for today.”
