Frank Lampard remains optimistic about Chelsea’s place in the Premier League table, Despite losing lots of points after a strong start to the season.

“The gap has closed but I don’t think many expected us to be fourth at this stage of the season,” Lampard said after the Man United loss on Monday.

“The fight starts now. (…) We’re in fourth place by a point, so the season starts here to that effect,” the manager claimed.

Following the defeat against Man Utd, Chelsea find themselves fourth in the PL table with just a one-point advantage over Tottenham Hotspur. Interestingly, Chelsea will face Spurs just over the weekend.

As you see, Sheffield United and Manchester United are nipping at the Blues’ heels as well.

Just to compare, Chelsea had a nine-point lead over fifth-placed Sheffield United after Matchday 12 when Frank Lampard’s side were on a six-game winning run.
