After months and months of fighting their transfer ban, Frank Lampard managed to get an early Christmas Present this month after it was revealed that the ban had been lifted, and Chelsea will be able to sign players again in the January window.
And that has led to a lot of transfer speculation in the media suggesting that Chelsea are ready to make a move to try and bring in the type of players that will help take them to the next level, and challenge for more than a Champions League place.
Ake is high up on the list after impressing in the Premier League, Zaha is regarded as one of the best wingers in the Premier League and Chilwell is easily regarded as one of the best left-backs in Europe right now.
Asked about the club’s interest in those three players, Lampard said on the Sky Sports website: ‘We want a top calibre of player who can improve us. ‘I won’t hone in on those three but I’ve said before I’m happy with the squad. We have to look [at signing players] if we can.
‘It is a joint-effort with the scouting teams, the board, the owner, myself. We work together. ‘I will recommend players who can help us. I want players who want to come here and win and be a Chelsea player.’
Lampard is now seeing just why this Chelsea side have struggled in the Premier League over the past few seasons, and he needs to delve into his transfer kitty and bring in a few top-class players.
Both Ake and Chilwell would definitely improve the defence, but Zaha is not the answer to their goals up-top. He barely nets ten goals a season and there is still a feeling that he is not ready to play for a big club like Chelsea. But it will be very interesting to see just whom arrives in the coming windows.
