Chelsea manager Frank Lampard wants to sign Wigan Athletic wonderkid Joe Gelhardt, according to The Express.
Gelhardt is an England under 18 international playing as a forward and he has a real eye for goal, scoring 15 goals in 21 appearances at England youth level.
The Express believe that he has caught the eye of Frank Lampard who will look to sign the youngster when his club’s transfer ban is lifted.
Gelhardt hasn’t started a match for Wigan yet but he has scored his first senior goal from the bench against Hull City just two weeks ago.
As a result he is now being scouted by some of England’s biggest teams including Chelsea and Everton.
Wigan will resist any offers for the striker, who has two years remaining on his contract with the Latics.
But he may well get his head swayed by attention from some of the top English sides and could ask for a move.
