The transfer window has officially opened today and there is no doubt that things will heat up from here on now.
Chelsea are expected to be fairly active in the market with Frank Lampard looking to add some quality to his squad.
There have been a large amount of names mentioned with making a potential move to Chelsea, none more so than Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha.
But Lampard believes that any transfer pursuits they are making will be kept behind closed doors, and he kept his heart very close to his chest when asked about a potential pursuit of Zaha today. Speaking after Chelsea’s 1-1 Premier League draw with Brighton, as reported by Football London, Lampard said:
“I wouldn’t talk about Zaha. It’s not something I’ve considered. “I won’t talk about him because he’s not our plans. If we have to do business we will do it behind closed doors aside to announcing who I want to bring.”
Zaha has been the one name who is constantly popping up as being linked with Chelsea, but it appears here that Lampard is trying to squash said rumour.
Whether he is speaking the honest truth and they have no interest in Zaha, or whether he is just being tactful and wanting to send reporters off the scent, remains to be seen.
