“From grass to grace player” “What a turnaround” – Peter Crouch says on Chelsea star after shock turnaround
After initially struggling after making a British record transfer from Brighton, Moises Caicedo has been praised by Peter Crouch for his comeback at Chelsea.
In the summer of 2023, the Blues paid Brighton £115 million for Caicedo, who didn’t enjoy the best start to his time at Stamford Bridge.
But following a sluggish start, Caicedo began to settle in over the second half of the season and delivered a string of strong performances as the Blues earned a spot in the top six and a trip back to Europe.
Peter Crouch hails Caicedo for his turnaround at Chelsea
Under Enzo Maresca the 23-year-old looks like a player transformed and he’s arguably been Chelsea’s best performer this season and the best midfielder in the league.
Former Blue Jody Morris believes Caicedo has been better for Chelsea than Palmer this year, and it’s arguable the Ecuadorian is the player Chelsea can least afford to be without.
Caciedo has started every league game for the Blues so far this season and whether he’s playing alongside Romeo Lavia or Enzo Fernandez he’s excelled.
Frank Leboeuf labelled the Ecuador international a game changer, and he’s now showing everyone he is worth the money Chelsea paid.
Peter Crouch is another who’s been impressed by Caicedo and he hailed the midfielder for his turnaround after naming him in his team of the season so far.
“He was fantastic at Brighton,” he told Sky Sports Monday Night Football.
“He came to Chelsea and looked awful in a Chelsea shirt. That partnership with Enzo Fernandez in midfield just wasn’t working at all. But he’s been so much better this season. So much more settled.
“I think when he plays with [Romeo] Lavia he plays well. Actually, Enzo Fernandez has come back into the team in recent weeks as well and he’s looking even better with him. He looks like the player that they signed. He’s been the outstanding player.”
