Most of Chelsea fans claim Frank Lampard’s team selection played a crucial role in the Blues’ recent defeat against West Ham.
The Chelsea boss was most heavily criticised for fielding the likes of Giroud and Pedro and leaving Michy Batshuayi on the bench. Besides, he sidelined N’Golo Kante and Cesar Azpilicueta.
However, the Chelsea fan Juwasan Odunayo believes a decision like that was destined to be made sooner or later. The reason is Chelsea’s hectic schedule combined with the lack of squad depth.
Juwasan wrote: “I hope you know that we have like 9 matches this month, that means they would play every weekend and midweek till the end of the year. What do you want the coach to do? Use the same players all through?
“A time will come when they would also be tired and mess up. I agree that Lampard made the wrong team selection for this game, but let’s be honest, at some point this month, he’ll have to make these decisions because we have a thin squad with so many injuries.
“The same people complaining now were the ones asking for Giroud to play some games, I even read someone here saying he [Lampard] should try Pedro a little.
These are tough decisions this man has to make this month with the tight schedule, let’s give him a break. I agree he made a mistake but it happens.”
