Chelsea are reportedly closing in on an agreement for England and Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Jadon Sancho. Jadon Sancho has taken German football by storm since his £8million move from Manchester City back in 2017, netting 26 goals in 78 matches for Dortmund across all competitions.
Manchester United have been massively linked with Sancho for some time and European champions Liverpool have also been weighing up a sensational bid for the 19-year-old striker. The Red Devils were thought to be at the front of the queue after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer identified Jadon Sancho as his number one attacking target last winter.
Though, according to The Sun, Frank Lampard’s Chelsea are ‘close’ to wrapping up an audacious £120m deal for Jadon Sancho which would smash the club’s transfer record.
The report suggests Manchester United have cooled their interest in Sancho due to Dortmund’s enormous valuation of the teenager.
Borussia Dortmund are reluctant to part with Jadon Sancho midway through the season as they attempt to end their agonising eight-year wait for the Bundesliga title – but Chelsea’s board have a plan up their sleeve.
Chelsea could complete an agreement for Jadon Sancho this winter before loaning the youngster back to Borussia Dortmund for the remainder of the season. The Blues used this tactic with Borussia Dortmund to find an agreement for Christian Pulisic.
The American has since become a key member of Frank Lampard’s first-team, notching up five goals and two assists in the league this term.
