Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek hopes he will be back in action in ‘just over a month’, he said in an interview with COPA90.
The 23-yea-old suffered an Achilles injury in a friendly game against New England Revolution back in May, just days before the Europa League final against Arsenal.
“It’s weird because it’s blurry,” Loftus-Cheek remembers that moment. “I went down and I knew I did something because I heard it and it was very, very painful and then the doctor came on, did some tests on my foot and I couldn’t move it.”
At the time, it was expected that Loftus-Cheek would be back in 6 months, but in reality, he’s had several setbacks that delayed his return even further.
“It’s alright, it’s been a long journey,” the midfielder adds. “Since I done it I’m just grinding it out and I’ve had a few setbacks which is normal when you’ve had a big injury. I’m close now anyway.
“If everything goes well, I’d say just over a month.”
Boy, we miss him:
On Tuesday, Ruben Loftus-Cheek also posted a video update on his social media, as he was shown training on his own, increasing the intensity of his runs.
