The Sun are reporting that RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner will only cost £68m.
That’s a lot of money, but it’s nor a crazy amount. When average English defenders are going for £80m, it’s not too much to ask for less than 70 for an established Champions League goalscorer who is still just 23.
However, We can afford it too – we received big money for Eden Hazard this summer and need new firepower either in January or next summer.
It’s very reasonable to imagine us firing off a bid and seeing how Leipzig react.
The real question is whether he will choose us or another option. That same article in the Sun suggests that Werner will also be chased by Real Madrid, a tempting option for anyone.
Thinking about it though, it may not be exactly what Real need. They spent big on a Bundesliga striker last summer in the form of Luka Jovic, and he’s barely getting a look in.
Why would they want to add another expensive forward to their bench?
