Chelsea fans have been given a boost ahead of the Blues’ next Premier League game against Wolves after Italy boss Roberto Mancini spoke of the injury sustained by Emerson Palmieri.
The Chelsea left-back was forced off in the early stages of Italy’s 2-1 win against Finland in a qualifier for the European Championships in 2020, with Emerson pulling up when chasing down Norwich City striker Teemu Pukki.
That sparked a reaction from Chelsea supporters, leaving them worried ahead of the return of Premier League football, with Frank Lampard’s men set to face Wolves at Molineux next weekend.
However, Mancini has given Chelsea fans cause for optimism with an update on the injury sustained by the full-back.
Speaking in his post-match press conference after the European Championships qualifier, the Italy boss said: “It was nothing serious, he stopped to ensure it didn’t get any worse.
As such, there is now hope for Chelsea fans that Emerson could yet be fit to face Wolves when the Premier League returns.
And that would be a big boost for Chelsea, with Emerson featuring in all four Premier League matches so far this season, under new head coach Lampard.
Great news.
Emerson might not miss the Wolves game after all. https://t.co/lTa8DeCEHl
