Guardiola finally ‘reveals’ why he want Reece James at Manchester city
According to latest reports, Pep Guardiola have now ‘added Reece James to their wishlist’ this summer.
The Athletic claim that Pep Guardiola is a ‘huge admirer’ of the Chelsea right-back and his Man City side are interested in bringing him to the Etihad Stadium.
Reece James broke into the Chelsea team in 2019 as a teenager under Frank Lampard, having being a massive success on loan with Wigan.
During the past season, Reece James proved to be important to both Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel as Chelsea went on to win the Champions League.
The report by The Athletic claims that Pep Guardiola is ‘a huge admirer’ of James and was impressed with the defender’s performances against City last season. Reece James marshalled out City star Raheem Sterling, much to the surprise of Pep.
Pep also believes to have been impressed by James’ versatility as he is capable of playing as a centre-back, as well as in central midfield.
Chelsea are not looking to sell Reece James, and Pep Guardiola is definitely on a wild goose chase.
