Eden Hazard was back in goalscoring form as Chelsea beat Brighton 2-1 at the Amex Stadium on Sunday and the 27-year-old insisted after the game that Chelsea are determined to win the Premier League.
Hazard assisted Pedro’s opener with an outstanding pass before finding the net himself as Chelsea held on for three points at the Amex Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Despite being eight points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, Hazard insists Chelsea want to be top of the league at the end of the season.
“We want to be top of the league at the end of the season,” Hazard said.
“We know Man City and Liverpool are good teams – we don’t want the gap to be big.”
Hazard’s goal against Brighton ended a run of eight games without a goal.
Asked whether it was important to get on the scoresheet after eight games without a goal, Hazard replied: “No. I like to score, but it’s not important for me.
“The most important thing is to win games. I just enjoy my football and that’s why I’’m on the pitch.
“We knew before the game that we need to score a third goal. When it’s 3-0 it’s harder for teams to get back. But we didn’t and conceded – you feel the pressure.
“But we managed the game well.”
