“He could miss rest of 2024” – Chelsea player suffers fresh injury blow and returns to Cobham for treatment

Chelsea’s medical crew at Cobham will have a fresh face to deal with as one of the on-loan players picks up an injury.

According to rumors in France, Chelsea defender Caleb Wiley will need to return to Cobham for treatment after suffering a shoulder injury. After battling a knee ailment at the beginning of the season, this is Wiley’s second serious injury since joining Strasbourg.

He will need to return to Chelsea, his parent club, for treatment due to the most recent shoulder injury before leaving for France. In order to send the 19-year-old out on loan to complete his development, Chelsea signed him from Atlanta in the summer on a six-year contract.

Wiley’s rise has been remarkable so far. He came through the academy of Major League Soccer side Atlanta United, making his senior debut in 2022. Since then, he has featured 85 times, scoring six goals and providing seven assists.

Chelsea are aiming to become a hub for the best young talents in Europe, and their investments are already beginning to show dividends. They currently sit third in the Premier League and are looking solid in all aspects of their play.

Players like Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson have developed into real game-changers this season, with Jackson now being considered one of the best strikers in the Premier League.

Cole Palmer, who was signed at the end of the transfer window last season, has also seen a remarkable transformation. After struggling for goals at Manchester City, he is now firmly established as one of the Premier League’s best players.

Two of Chelsea’s other loan players, Andrey Santos and Djordje Petrovic, are also thriving at Strasbourg. Santos has been sensational in Ligue 1, while Petrovic, who was the first-choice goalkeeper last season, has been forced out due to new manager Enzo Maresca preferring Robert Sanchez.
