“He has a lot of quality” – Leo Messi hails Chelsea transfer target as the “next star”
Lionel Messi, dubbed “The Goat,” has lavished little Nico Paz with accolades. Ahead of the January transfer window, the 20-year-old is being linked to both Chelsea and Arsenal. Last week, he made his Argentina debut against Bolivia. On the field, the young player took Lautaro Martinez’s spot.
Despite only playing a few minutes, the young player’s sharp performance won over the audience. He provided Messi with an incredible assist shortly after entering the game. Paz enabled Messi to accomplish his incredible hat-trick.
Argentina is currently leading the COMNEBOL World Cup qualifying table. Messi asserted during the match that Paz has a great deal of talent and will only get better. Additionally, the eight-time Ballon D’Or winner commended his comprehension of the game and his matured decision making on the pitch.
Paz joined Como from Real Madrid’s academy this year. His contract at his new club runs till 2028. He’s made six appearances for the Italian club providing three assists so far. The 20-year old has become a key player for Como in such a short span of time. Cesc Fabregas has given confidence to the young lad who is delivering the results.
According to TBR Football, the Gunners’ and the Blues’ are among several clubs closely monitoring Paz’s performances. Real Madrid also have an option to buy him back in the youngster’s clause.
What can Nico Paz add to this Chelsea team?
Nico Paz is a new talent coming out from the streets of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Messi praised the young lad saying, “He has a lot of quality and understands the game perfectly.” The eight time Ballon D’or winner saying this, does mean that the 20-year old is special.
He has been simply sensational for Como in the Serie-A which earned him his call up in the national team by Scaloni. He didn’t let the La Albiceleste down, as he assisted Messi to complete his hat-trick.
Paz is a creative player who is brave on the ball, and does not shy away from taking risks on the pitch. His calmness and vision makes him stand out from the rest. It feels like he has an ability to find the perfect pass that would result in a goal. He knows when to time his runs, creating space for his teammates.
He’s one of the most talented left footed ballers right now. Him being brilliant on the ball, helps him navigate through opposition midfield quite easily. He’s almost press resistant making him very dangerous.
However, will he be able to adapt at Chelsea? The Blues’ have a record of ruining young prospects after spending big money on them. Paz is just 20-years old and has plenty to learn. He might find it difficult to play his game at Chelsea if he is unable to adapt to the physicality of the Premier league.
Real Madrid made a huge blunder selling Nico Paz
Real Madrid regret letting Nico Paz leave the club this summer. He was one of the most creative players in their academy who could’ve come handy this season. The 20-year old playing currently in Como has impressed fans all across the world.
The way he was progressing in Real Madrid’s academy, letting him go so easily was a blunder. With so many injuries, and congested schedule Paz could’ve had a huge impact for Madrid this season.
It is not very often when a player from Madrid’s academy establish themselves in the club. Paz could’ve made that breakthrough if he was given the chance to showcase his skills. It’s a huge opportunity and talent missed by Real Madrid’s scouting department.
However, the club has a buy back clause in the midfielder’s contract at Como. This might give Real Madrid a slight chance in signing him in the future. They might exercise this clause if the young lad continues to rise.
