“He plays like him” ” “You can’t leave him out of any team” – Theo Walcott compares Cole Palmer to Arsenal legend
Theo Walcott, a former Arsenal player, likened Chelsea star Cole Palmer to Dennis Bergkamp, the legendary gunner, after Palmer’s incredible Premier League performance against Brighton & Hove Albion.
On Saturday, the west London giants defeated the Seagulls 4-2 at Stamford Bridge.
In the first half, Palmer scored an incredible quadruple that made headlines. On a different day, he could have easily scored six.
After the match, Walcott said of Palmer that he was on par with both Bergkamp and Robin van Persie and that he was an indispensable member of any squad right now, even the England national team.
Walcott said: “He has got a bit of finesse, Bergkamp, Van Persie about him, and they weren’t bad at all.
“You can’t leave him out of any team, and I am talking about England too. The player himself though, had his eyes on more.”
Palmer has been in tremendous touch since his move to Stamford Bridge last year. He has 46 goal contributions from just 52 appearances for the Blues across all competitions.
His goal involvements put him into a world-class category and he could have a key role to play in the coming months as Chelsea look to assert their renewed dominance in the top-flight.
