“He will get you sacked” “He cost you again” – Rio Ferdinand warns Enzo Maresca to drop Chelsea star after awful display in 2-1 defeat to Fulham
At the 80-minute mark today, Chelsea had a 1-0 lead over Fulham, but ultimately lost 2-1. Fans get annoyed by such kind of stuff and start searching for things that went wrong.
Although assigning blame isn’t always simple, Robert Sanchez has received criticism today for hoofing the late clearing that Fulham eventually scored from directly down the middle of the field.
We don’t want to give goalkeepers a lot of technical criticism because we don’t fully grasp some of the nuances. However, this appeared to be rather clear, and Rio Ferdinand, a Manchester United icon who was watching the match for the BBC, was well-equipped to provide criticism:
“Players like this will definitely sacked their manager, is better to replace him before is too late”
“Robert Sanchez looked to hit a massive diagonal and he doesn’t hit it properly. That enabled Fulham to hit them on the counter & players were caught out of position,” Rio Ferdinand said.
“The goalkeeper has to look at himself, it was a poor clearance.”
Tosin was then so slow getting forward from the deep position he had taken up alongside Sanchez – probably because he didn’t expect it to be possible that the ball came back so fast. Probably he was expecting the ball from the keeper short, which is why he had dropped there. Still, that’s slack from the defender who could have sprinted forward.
