“He will make a better captain than Reece James” – Chelsea fans calls for 24-years-old Chelsea star to be made captain instead of Reece James
On Wednesday night, Reece James was shown the red card against Brighton.
Chelsea was on the verge of losing their comfortable 2-0 lead when the Blues skipper was sent off.
With barely two minutes remaining in regular time, the Chelsea captain gave a stern look to Brighton star Joao Pedro and was sent out following a VAR check.
Reece James, who was on the ground, lunged at Joao Pedro after the latter had fouled him.
Reece James did not act like a captain when Chelsea was on the verge of blowing a 2-0 lead.
James had only been on for 17 minutes before being sent off for violent conduct.
The red card now means Reece James will miss Chelsea’s last game of the season. It also means he will be suspended for four games due to it being his second offence.
Many Chelsea fans on social media feel that centre-back Trevoh Chalobah is the best candidate to become full-time captain if Reece James is stripped of the armband.
