“He’s a mess, he can’t take us to anywhere” – Mikel Obi slams Chelsea star after poor performance in Man City defeat
John Obi Mikel, a former midfield player for Chelsea, has criticized Nicolas Jackson’s performance against Manchester City.
Jackson was unable to score, and the 2-0 loss at Stamford Bridge marked the start of Enzo Maresca’s tenure.
The Premier League winners’ goals came from Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovacic in each half.
Chelsea were unable to convert any of their chances, with Jackson proving especially frustrating with his costly misses.
The Senegal striker was taken off in the 67th minute and replaced by 18-year-old Marc Guiu.
Working as an analyst for beIN Sports, Mikel Obi said: “You need to have a striker who knows how to hit a ball in the back of the net and that’s what we don’t have.
“I know I talk so much about him and sometimes I sound like I disrespect him, but I don’t disrespect him.”
