“He’s always appreciated and welcome” – reports confirms possible Potter replacement
According to journalist Simon Phillips, Chelsea are fans of former Bayern Munich head coach Julian Nagelsmann,
However, The German was sacked by the Bundesliga champions last week, and Phillips claims that, while the Blues are keeping faith with current manager Graham Potter for the time being, Nagelsmann is very much on their radar:
“As of right now, I’m told the Chelsea board continue to back Graham Potter and they are determined to stick with him. As always, things can change fast, and Chelsea will certainly keep an eye on the Julian Nagelsmann situation purely because he is a manager they have always appreciated anyway. But right now, they are only planning with Potter.”
Nagelsmann is currently the bookies’ favourite for the Tottenham job, ahead of Mauricio Pochettino, following Spurs’s decision to sack Antonio Conte. It’s, therefore, very likely that the 35-year-old won’t be on the market for very long so Chelsea’s board may have a decision to make.
Potter has been in charge for nearly seven months but his record is pretty poor. In the 30 matches he has taken charge of, the Blues have won 12, drawn 8 and lost 10.
