“He’s far better than Jackson” – Chelsea ready to sign former Manchester City striker

According to reports, there is currently a sense in the industry that Chelsea will shortly try to recruit a former Manchester City striker.

There is a sense that there may be a few surprises coming up with some possible moves on the cards, even if we are constantly warned not to expect a busy January transfer season in terms of Chelsea’s in-comings.

We know there will be outgoings and in fact, I actually reported on one that seems to be moving just this morning. Torino are in negotiations with Chelsea to sign midfielder Cesare Casadei on a permanent deal this month, and we expect more to follow that outgoing too.

But in terms of arrivals, I don’t expect much, but there might be one or two situations to watch, and one of those situations is a potential new striker if it cannot wait until the summer.

Chelsea in for Delap

We keep hearing about Chelsea’s interest in signing Liam Delap from Ipswich Town, and one reporter Ben Jacobs has been speaking about this one on Saturday night on an X Space.

Jacobs believes there is a feeling in the industry that Chelsea WILL be making a move to sign Delap, although he believes Ipswich will not let him go this window.

He said:

“The feeling in the industry at the moment is that Chelsea are going to move for Liam Delap but Ipswich are very unlikely to sell in January.”

It’s not clear if Chelsea will even make the move now or wait until the summer, but you feel that with a talent like the former Manchester City player, then you are going to have to move fast in order to get ahead of the competition.
