“He’s not helping us” “He needs to leave” – Chelsea prepare to sell Chelsea star this summer
Chelsea are looking to get another intensive summer of player exits and dribbling money for moves ahead of signing another enormous money for moves with Christopher Nkunku interesting to leave the club at the end of the season. Nkunku was to be Chelsea’s next attacking star after arriving from RB Leipzig for £52 million in 2023. His time in West London has been a Shakespearean tragedy: promise, drama, aplenty; a lot of ‘what ifs.’
The irritant of his Chelsea career has been injuries, and from flashes of brilliance, Nkunku has been unable to secure a regular place in the starting team. Chelsea reportedly seek to offload seven or eight players in order to pay for a new striker, and Nkunku looks increasingly likely to be on the exit door.
Why Has Christopher Nkunku Struggled at Chelsea?
Nkunku’s Chelsea stint has not played out that smoothly but—a bumpy ride, which is, let’s be honest. In the Premier League, he has only added three of his 14 goals this season to his tally, and with that many more matches to play than every other Chelsea player, he hasn’t exactly set Stamford Bridge on fire. Nkunku… is fighting for scraps like a seagull at a beach picnic, as injuries have also taken their toll as well as the form of players such as Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson.
Nkunku has didn’t exactly grabbed his chance with both hands when given the chance, especially when LeBron Jackson is absent. In fact, he has been giving performances that have fans wondering whether Chelsea signed his distant cousin by accident.
What’s Next for Christopher?
Nkunku hasn’t been sitting idle, playing FIFA, as supposedly happens with other players who aren’t being pursued by the best teams—he’s already looking ahead. What he also wants is a club that plays to his style of play better (not one where he has to battle out of a winless reality TV show slot awaiting him). However, Bayern Munich sniffed around in January, but Chelsea’s £65 million asking price put a scare around the champions.
However, what is so unpredictable about the summer market, and with Chelsea keen to trim their bloated squad, their departure seems more likely than natural. To put it frankly, if you are a club in need of an all-rounded forward with untapped potential, Nkuknu might be your guy.
