“He’s out of Chelsea squad” – €45m Chelsea man left out of squad ahead of January transfer – Romano confirms

In terms of January transfers at Chelsea, things are happening swiftly on several fronts.

Although there may be players joining, the focus is first on players leaving.

At some point this week, it had appeared fairly certain that Cesare Casadei, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Renato Veiga, and Carney Chukwuemeka will make an appearance.

Axel Disasi can now be added to the list with ease.

Fabrizio Romano has just given an evening update which says the defender will be left out of Chelsea’s squad tomorrow for the Premier League game against Bournemouth, a sure sign he’s close to agreeing a move away from the club.

This one has moved fast – there have been some whispers for a while, but nothing very concrete. We’re curious who the “important clubs” mentioned by Disasi might be. Juventus have come up as an option in recent weeks, but Romano doesn’t name them.

We’d imagine there is Premier League interest – Disasi is big and physical, speaks English and is adapted to England and to the league.

Disasi closes in on exit after falling down pecking order

It’s obvious that he’s not in Enzo Maresca’s plans – even with Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana injured, Disasi has found himself behind Tosin Adarabioyo and Josh Acheampong in the list of players to partner Levi Colwill in defence. This also seems to set the stage for a Trevoh Chalobah return from loan.

If it wasn’t for his ability to play at right back (to a not very high standard) Disasi would have had even fewer appearances this season. After being a regular for Mauricio Pochettino for most of last season, his stock has continually fallen and now it makes sense for everyone to move him on.
