“He’s the cause of our draw” – Enzo Maresca finally reveals who stopped Chelsea from beating Nottingham Forest
Chelsea could only manage a point against a tenacious Nottingham Forest side at Stamford Bridge.
Forest has one of the greatest defences in the Premier League this season, as seen against Chelsea.
Chelsea fell behind to Nottingham Forest straight after the restart, but Noni Madueke equalised eight minutes later.
After James Ward-Prowse was sent off, Forest played the last portion of the game with only one man. Chelsea, however, were unable to capitalize on their advantage, as Forest held on.
Chelsea had several chances to win the game, but the Forest goalkeeper was outstanding in net.
Speaking after the game, Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca insisted his side deserved to win the game, and hailed the Forest defence and particularly their goalkeeper from preventing Chelsea from getting the win.
“I think we deserved to win,” Enzo Maresca said after Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest.
“They are a very good team and we knew they would defend well. It was a tough and tricky game, very different to Brighton. We were patient on the ball and created chances.
“Overall the performance was good and I think we deserved to win.
“Their keeper was the best of the game. We created chances and arrived at goal in the way we want to.”
